Larry Meathe Joins Brush Engineered Materials as Director Corporate Planning and Audit

CLEVELAND - April 10, 2001 - Brush Engineered Materials Inc. announced today that Larry Meathe has joined the company as Director Corporate Planning and Audit.

Meathe's responsibilities include the oversight of internal audit and the implementation of key business process improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

Meathe most recently was Vice President Corporate Audit at White Consolidated Industries in Cleveland where he was responsible for internal audit, process improvement, and consulting coordination of nearly two dozen domestic organizations.

In making the announcement, John D. Grampa, Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, remarked, "Larry brings a breadth of experience in internal audit, business process improvement, and internal consulting to this new corporate role. I'm pleased to have an individual of Larry's caliber lead these important areas and look forward to his contributions to our success."

Meathe earned a Bachelor's degree in finance from John Carroll University in Cleveland and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Larry and his wife, Marie, are parents of two children.
