CLEVELAND, Mar 23, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Brush Engineered Materials Inc. (NYSE:BW) announced today that Stephen Freeman has been appointed to the newly created position of President, International Business Development.
He now has executive management responsibility for developing international business for Brush Engineered Materials including acquisitions and developing strategic alliances, partnerships and the development of new markets in close coordination with the Company's subsidiaries around the world. He previously served as President of Brush International, Inc.
In announcing the appointment, Richard J. Hipple, President and COO of Brush Engineered Materials said, "The Brush organization has a long tradition of supplying global customers. This appointment accelerates and magnifies our efforts to better serve the rapid migration and advancement of manufacturing overseas and to capture emerging demand from within those regions."
Freeman joined the Alloy Products group of Brush Wellman in 1992 as Vice President, Sales and Marketing. In 1999, he was appointed President of Brush International.
He has a Bachelor of Metallurgy degree from the University of Sheffield, in England, and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge for research into the physical properties of metals.
