MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
After 18 months of support and participation throughout its
organization, Materion Corporation's Elmore, Ohio facility is the latest
and the largest of the Company's facilities to receive the coveted
Environmental Management System (EMS) ISO 14001:2004 Certification. The
Certification is the most widely recognized voluntary environmental
standard awarded to organizations that work to control their impact on
the environment and improve their environmental performance.
Organizations must minimize operations that negatively affect the
environment or cause adverse changes to air, water or land. Companies
must comply with local laws and regulations and demonstrate that they
have designed and implemented an effective environmental management
system.
The EMS ISO process is administered by a third party that is unrelated
to the organization seeking the credentials. The outside organization
provides monitoring to ensure that organizations recognize and comply
with the various management guidelines. Once the standards have been
met, the auditing organization certifies the applicant organization as
ISO 14001 compliant. The certification is valid for three years.
